Cargo Shorts StudiosThese terms are an agreement between you and Cargo Shorts Studios LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"), covering your use of the Commander Crush mobile app.
The short version
- Commander Crush is free, and browsing and searching card data will always stay free.
- It's an unofficial fan project. We're not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
- Card prices, card data, and market data come from third parties and may be wrong or out of date. Don't rely on the app for purchases or rules decisions.
- Use the app for what it's for. Don't scrape it, break it, or rebuild our data somewhere else.
- We provide the app as-is, with no guarantees, and what we could owe you is capped.
- This is a general-audience app, open to ages 13 and up.
The sections below are the full terms.
1. Accepting these terms
By downloading, opening, or using Commander Crush, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app. If you've already installed it, please uninstall it and stop using it.
2. Who we are
Commander Crush is made and operated by Cargo Shorts Studios LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company. You can reach us at legal@cargoshortsstudios.com.
3. Age
You need to be at least 13 to use Commander Crush. If you're under 18, you may use it only with permission from a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms along with you.
We don't ask your age, and there are no accounts, so this is something we rely on you to honor rather than something we check. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child sent us information, see the "Children" section of our Privacy Policy.
4. What Commander Crush is, and is not
Commander Crush helps you discover commanders for the Commander format of Magic: The Gathering by swiping through cards and saving the ones you like.
It's a discovery tool. It isn't an authority on anything.
Prices, card data, and market data, for cards and for other products, are informational. They come from third-party sources, may be out of date or wrong, and are not an offer to sell anything at any price.
We're not an authority on card legality, rules, or tournament policy. Card text in the app may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. For anything that matters, such as whether a card is legal in your deck, how a card actually works, or what a tournament allows, check official sources.
Decisions you make about buying, selling, building, or playing are yours.
5. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version and date at the top of this page show when we last did.
For material changes, we'll give you notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Commander Crush after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don't accept them, stop using the app.
6. Your privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It's part of your agreement with us.
You can erase your data at any time from Settings → Delete my data.
7. Acceptable use
Use Commander Crush for what it's for. Don't:
- Break the law, or use the app to help someone else break it.
- Interfere with the app, our servers, or anyone else's use of it.
- Try to get around security measures, rate limits, or access controls.
- Run denial-of-service attacks or high-volume automated scanning against our services.
- Use the app to harass anyone or to distribute malware.
- Misrepresent yourself as us, or suggest we endorse you.
Security research is welcome, and this section isn't meant to discourage it. If you're looking for vulnerabilities in good faith, without breaking the rules above, and you report what you find to dev@cargoshortsstudios.com instead of disclosing it publicly or exploiting it, that's not a breach of these terms.
8. The app and our data
The app itself belongs to us: its design, its interface, its code, and the analysis we produce, including our commander recommendation and similarity data. These terms give you permission to use Commander Crush on your own devices, for your own use. They don't give you rights to anything else.
Specifically, don't:
- Copy, scrape, or systematically harvest data from the app or the services it connects to.
- Use the app or its data to build a competing or substantially similar product or database.
- Reverse engineer the app, except where the law says you may regardless of what a contract says.
- Access our data endpoints outside normal use of the app.
- Try to identify any individual from the aggregate statistics the app shows or we publish.
This section covers our app and our own analysis, not the underlying card information. See the next two sections for what belongs to somebody else.
9. Card data, images, and where they come from
Card information and card images in Commander Crush come from Scryfall and other third-party sources, under their own terms. We don't own that data, and we don't claim to.
Card names, card text, and card images are the intellectual property of Wizards of the Coast. Prices and market data originate with the marketplaces that publish them.
If a third-party source changes its terms, goes away, or stops working, parts of the app may change or stop working too.
10. Fan content and Wizards of the Coast

We're not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, Scryfall, or any card marketplace.
11. Ads
Commander Crush is supported by ads. The ads we request are not personalized, and we don't build an advertising profile about you. Our Privacy Policy has the detail.
We don't control the content of individual ads and we don't endorse what's advertised. If an ad seems inappropriate, tell us at legal@cargoshortsstudios.com.
12. Affiliate links and stores we link to
The app links out to card databases and online stores. Store links carry a referral identifier that credits us or the card database we source the link from, and whoever it credits may earn a commission if you buy something after following one, at no extra cost to you.
When you follow a link you leave the app, and that site's terms and privacy policy apply, not ours. We aren't responsible for those sites, what they sell, what they charge, or what happens to an order. Any purchase is between you and that seller.
13. Paid features, if we offer them
Commander Crush is free and ad-supported today. We may offer additional paid tiers with additional features later.
Browsing and searching card names, card text, prices, and images will always stay free. We won't put that behind a paywall. Additional tools we build on top of it, such as advanced filtering, deck-building, or extra stats, may be part of a paid tier.
If we do offer paid features, purchases are typically made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, under their payment terms and refund policies. Refunds are handled by the store, not by us. We'd describe pricing and what you get at the point of purchase.
14. Things you send us
You can send us feedback, bug reports, and suggestions through the in-app feedback form, the shake-to-report gesture, or email. We may also add other ways to submit content.
You keep ownership of what you send us. By sending it, you give us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, copy, modify, and act on it for any purpose connected to Commander Crush or any successor or related product of ours, including building what you suggested, with no compensation and no obligation to credit you.
Please don't send us confidential information or anything you don't have the right to share. If you send us an idea and we ship something like it, you agree we owe you nothing for it. We may already be working on it, or may hear it from many people.
15. Availability, changes, and shutting down
We may change, suspend, or discontinue Commander Crush, or any part of it, at any time, including where it's offered. We may add features, remove features, or stop offering the app entirely.
We don't promise the app will always be available, or that it will work without interruption or errors. It depends on services we don't control, including the app stores, our hosting providers, and third-party data sources.
Your data primarily lives on your device. If you delete the app, clear its cache, or an app update resets local storage, that data can be lost. We aren't responsible for data you lose this way, and Commander Crush isn't a backup or storage service. Don't rely on it as the only place something is saved.
16. Termination
You can stop using Commander Crush at any time by deleting it. To erase what's stored, use Settings → Delete my data first.
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or if we reasonably believe you're abusing the app or its services. Since there are no accounts, in practice this means blocking access to our services.
Sections that should outlive the agreement do: 8, 9, 14, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, and 23 survive termination.
17. Disclaimers
Commander Crush is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We don't warrant that:
- The app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
- Card data, prices, or market data will be accurate, complete, or current.
- The app is a reliable guide to card legality, rules, or tournament policy.
- Defects will be corrected.
We take reasonable measures to protect the app and the data connected to it, but no security system is perfect, and we can't guarantee against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
Some states don't allow certain warranty disclaimers. Where that's the case, they don't apply to you.
18. Limitation of liability
Our total liability to you is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
That limit covers all claims relating to Commander Crush taken together, not $100 per claim, and it applies however the claim is framed, whether as breach of contract, negligence, or anything else. It applies even if we knew the problem was possible.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. That includes lost profits, lost data, and money you spend on cards or anything else you buy after following a link from the app.
Some states don't allow some of these limits. Where that's the case they don't apply to you, and nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
19. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Commander Crush or because you breached these terms, you agree to defend and indemnify us against that claim, including reasonable legal costs.
This doesn't apply to claims arising from our own conduct.
20. If you think something here infringes
We take intellectual property seriously, and we've tried to be careful about what the app displays and where it comes from.
If you believe something in Commander Crush infringes your rights, email legal@cargoshortsstudios.com with what you found, where it appears, and what right you hold. We'll look into it and respond.
21. Apple App Store and Google Play
These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. The app itself is licensed to you under the app store's own terms.
Apple and Google aren't responsible for Commander Crush, for supporting it, or for any claim you have about it. If you have a problem with the app, come to us.
Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce this section against you as a third-party beneficiary of these terms.
22. Governing law and where disputes go
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Minnesota, and you and we both agree to their jurisdiction.
If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away rights you have under the law of the place you live that can't be waived by agreement.
23. General
These terms are the entire agreement between you and us about Commander Crush, and they replace anything said earlier on the subject. Our Privacy Policy is part of them.
If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and that part is limited to the minimum extent necessary.
Not enforcing something doesn't waive it. If we don't act on a breach, we can still act on it later.
You can't transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of our assets.
Nothing here makes us partners, or makes either of us the other's agent or employee.
